The
Three directors are all specialists in their own fields:
JOHN
HEWITT is an imaginative and practical designer. His
ideas seek to expand the boundaries of architecture and are always
rooted in what is possible for the client and achievable in the
circumstances.
JOHN RICH is passionate about construction and the
product the practice delivers. His experience gained through repairing
defective buildings is applied rigorously to the practice's projects.
NICHOLAS STUBBS is particularly strong in bringing difficult
negotiations to a successful conclusion. This is often in the area
of Local Authority planning applications.
The
Canada Office
ROBERT PARLANE
shares our corporate passion for well conceived design solutions,
robust and durable detailing, and lateral thinking to resolve difficult
problems and achieve cost effective value engineering, including
a S$54 million Distribution Centre and Bioresearch Lboratories for
Research Machines and Oxford Glycoscience. His Canada office in
our network in Vancouver continues to support the global network
and other Canadian projects.

After
our staff, our second biggest area of investment is in IT.
Every one of our 57 staff is linked to our network by a powerful PC
running a full range of Microsoft software. The technical staff all
use Microstation CAD software for 2D and 3D imaging work.
A full time systems manager keeps our computer systems running smoothly
and ensures all the necessary upgrades are implemented.
A full time CAD manager helps our architects make the best and most
efficient use of Microstation. He also trains new recruits.
Teams:
Each project is tackled by a small team of technical and administrative
staff run by an architect and overseen by one of our experienced team
leaders. At any time, teams can call on the three directors for input
and advice.

We
apply an ISO 9001 Quality Assurance system to the management of each
project to ensure consistently high levels of service.
Through our extensive work investigating defects in other buildings,
we know how important it is to have access to full and current technical
data when developing our own buildings. To this end, we subscribe
to the Technical Indexes information service and the NBS Specification
Writer.
Excellent people, advanced IT and the latest
technical data add up to a formidable pool of resources.
